Artist Statement

I paint as if it is a diary of my life. My work generally revolves around my family, my friends, and the places I am close to. I paint these things to cling onto them, unable to let go of the memories surrounding them. I paint them to witness them and to show other people myself, and I paint them to belong to them.
The scenes on the canvas are crowded rooms full of laughter, they’re familiar hands, they’re days in the farm. I’m incredibly drawn to the domestic and the joy in it that’s overlooked or taken for granted by most people. I’m drawn to laughter, happiness, and days laying in bed. My goal with my paintings is presence, to feel like you’re in the home my hearts at.
